Pregnant or planning your family? Congratulations momma to be! The beginning of pregnancy can be overwhelming as you think about what the future holds: doctor/midwife appointments, registry and shower planning, and birth plans. Regardless of what your pregnancy journey brings, one thing we can all agree on is that diet and exercise are incredibly important to the wellbeing of both mother and baby.
Many first-time moms worry about the safety of exercise when they find out the news that they are expecting or wonder what they should be eating to keep both baby and mom safe and healthy as their little one grows. Always consult with your doctor or midwife regarding these concerns. A general rule for exercise is that if you did it before, you can continue with modification as the pregnancy progresses. Diet will vary based on you and your baby’s health goals and needs. According to the Mayo clinic, its recommended to avoid seafood high in mercury, undercooked sea food, unpasteurized foods (brie, feta, and blue cheese), unwashed fruits and vegetables, herbal teas, alcohol, or high caffeinated drinks (it is recommended to not consume more than 200 mg of caffeine per day).
BasiCare Plus® loves serving our expecting moms and this fall will be releasing an adapted wellness program, including free physician access for those questions and concerns. Our modified app will provide pathways to skincare, meals, exercise and general wellness. Keep checking back and thank you for reading!
